Hi-Z refers to &#8220;high impedance,&#8221; which pertains to the input or output impedance of a device. Devices with impedances of several thousand ohms and up are considered high impedance.<\/p><p>A typical guitar without an active pickup installed or a direct box (DI) connected generally needs to be connected to a Hi-Z input.
