A masterclass is a unique opportunity for musicians to refine their skills in a public performance setting. Each student will perform on stage, followed by a coaching session with a professional guitarist, offering valuable insights and techniques.

Not ready to perform? No problem! Auditing is free, and audience members can still gain tremendous value by observing the process and learning from the feedback given to performers.

About Carlen Gong

Carlen Gong is an acclaimed Australian classical guitarist, originally from Qingdao, China. As a soloist, he has captivated audiences at prestigious venues across Australia, including Melbourne Recital Centre, Plenary Theatre, Dunstan Playhouse, and Melbourne Convention Centre.

At just 19, Carlen made his soloist debut at Carnegie Hall, earning high praise from Voce di Meche Reviews:
“An artist who limned the various colors between soulful and spirited… displaying techniques we had never before witnessed… the sound came across as some kind of wizardry.”

Currently, Carlen is a sophomore at the Manhattan School of Music on a full scholarship, studying under Mark Delpriora, chair of the MSM Guitar Department and faculty at Juilliard. He was also awarded the 2023 Music Performance Entrance Scholarship and the Ivy May Pendlebury Scholarship at the University of Melbourne.

Beyond his success as a performer, Carlen is a highly sought-after guitar teacher, passionate about sharing his expertise with students of all levels and styles.
